Barras Paul François Jean Nicolas, viscount of (1755 - 1829)

At first little involved during the Revolution, he had a brief military career. Conventional, he is a representative on mission in particular in Toulon to liberate the city, he will name Bonaparte captain. He is recalled by the Public Safety Committee. He then throws himself into the opposition and becomes the leader of the Thermidorians, he is commander-in-chief of the troops of Paris. After the fall of Robespierre. he did not want a return to the monarchy and ordered Bonaparte to put down the insurrection of 13 Vendémiaire. He is at the head of the five directors during the Management Board and he is one of the most influential. He returned to France after the Empire and was not on the list of banished regicides.
