Boissy d'Anglas François, Count of (1756 -1826)

Lawyer at the Parliament of Paris, he was elected to the Estates General but remained unnoticed. He will nevertheless be elected to the Convention, but remains discreet within the Plain. He declared himself hostile to the Terror and joined the Committee of Public Safety after Thermidor. President of the Convention he faces the riots of Prairial. He actively drafted the constitution of Year III. Very popular, he was elected to the Cinq-Cents by seventy-two departments. On 18 Fructidor he was hunted down as a royalist but escaped deportation. Amnesty by Bonaparte, he will preside over the Tribunate and then enter the Senate. He was then count of the empire and then peer of France.
