Josephine Marie-Josèphe Rose Tascher de La Pagerie (1763 -1814)

She marries the Vicomte de Beauharnais, a revolutionary who will be guillotined. She bore him two children (Eugene and Hortense). She married General Bonaparte, whom she helped to get named in Italy. Having become Empress of the French, the Emperor repudiated her, for lack of an heir. Josephine often had to face criticism from the Bonaparte family, she had earned Letizia's hatred, and her childlessness was a problem for the couple's harmony. Horticulturist in her spare time, she undertook to collect the 250 varieties of roses in Europe.
