Zeus's sister! About Hestia, the god of fire

This time, let's take a look at Hestia, one of the 12 gods of Olympus!

The eldest daughter of Cronus and Rhea and the sister of Zeus

Cronus himself overthrew his father, Uranus, but also swallows the children born with fear of being overthrown by children.

Among them, this Hestia was the first to be swallowed.

Zeus, who was finally born between Cronus and Rhea, succeeded in saving his brother and sister God who was in Cronus, and joined forces to challenge the mighty God the Father.

After a fierce battle, Zeus and others win, and Zeus becomes the world champion after that.

Zeus courted his sisters, including Hera, one after another, but for some reason he did not court Hestia. She is called by the god Vesta in Rome.

As the god of the fire

Just because she wasn't courted by Zeus doesn't mean that Hestia wasn't popular. She has been courted by Zeus's brother Poseidon and Zeus's son Apollo, but for some reason she promises Zeus to keep her chastity forever.

Hestia itself is the god of the fire pot, and as in the old Japanese mythology, Greek society also lived around the fire pot, so it is actually the central figure among the 12 Olympian gods, but it cannot move from there because it controls the fire pot. , Very rarely appear in episodes of Greek mythology (; ω;).

She's why she's a goddess we're not familiar with Japanese, but she seems to be the most familiar god to Greeks.

She was the only Olympian god to be felt in the house, and she was also called the god of family life for a long time, and finally became the god of altars and rituals.

Although ancient Greece has a democratic image including Athens, it can be said that the existence of Hestia was quite large because it had a theocracy part as it was influenced by the oracle of the Delphi Temple that enshrined Apollo.

Every time the Olympics are held, there is a story about how the torchbearer is doing, but it is also Hestia who controls the torch, and it is said that ancient Greece brought fire from the temple of Hestia and lit it when creating a new city. After all it is an important goddess.

It is said that there was almost always a statue of Hestia in the center of the Greek colonial city, and many of the cities that are still developing are those built by the Greeks.

Famous places like Naples, Marseille and Istanbul are colonies originally made by Greeks.
