Strange Remedies Against Baldness in Ancient Egypt

Even in Ancient Egypt, thousands of years ago, people suffered from various forms of baldness and alopecia , which for those affected were a hard gripe to accept exactly as it happens today.

As we can see from the numerous representations that have come down to us, show off a thick and healthy hair it was of fundamental importance for the Egyptians, also for the symbolic value that was attributed to it; in addition to the frequent use of wigs, the hair was styled in an elaborate and scenographic way.

So what to do in case of thinning?

The luminaries of the time advised various (unthinkable) remedies to arrest their fall and invigorate them , many of which are described in some papyri now in our possession; a mixture based on animal fats was the most frequently used recipe.
