General Condition

Khao Pina is a limestone mountain. with a height of about 100 meters, located in the plains of the Trang River At the foot of the mountain is the location of Wat Khao Pina. In the east of Khao Pina is a small canal called Khlong Khi Siet. In the past, it was assumed that Khao Pina was a plain to the sea and probably had mangrove forests reaching the foot of the mountain. Since ancient ship anchors have been excavated in the fields around this mountain, Khao Pina consists of several caves located in descending order, divided into 6 levels, with a hollow interior that can walk through each other and break through several steep cliffs. There are concrete stairs leading up to the height of the cave, where fluorescent lights are lit and power lines are routed. Khao Pina Cave is currently in the vicinity of Wat Khao Pina. Level 1 is called “Tham Nam”. The cave floor is below ground level, with water all year round. And there is a cave that flows through the mountains.

Level 2, the cave floor is about 3 meters high from the ground. Inside there are 3 caves:Hermit Cave, located on the southwest side, formerly called "Tham Bone" because the bones of ancient people were found. Sumongkhalo had to collect the bones, burn them in the fire and form a hermit image in the mouth of the cave. The other cave is “Huaf Cave” and another unidentified cave Located between the chaff cave and the hermit cave

Level 3 is called "Tham Phra Bantom" because there is a reclining Buddha image built during the reign of Khun Krai as the abbot of Wat Khao Pina, made of diamonds by a craftsman named Nui Suwankhiri, Ban Khuan Khan, Mueang Trang District.

Level 4 "Tham Phra Klang Klang" has 5 stucco Buddha images made of stucco. Level 5 "Tham Chedi", about 20 meters high from the plain, enshrines a small chedi, it does not appear to have been built in any period. It was in a very dilapidated condition. Until it was restored in the reign of Khun Krai as the abbot. In 1923, Khun Krai's descendants built a lotus to contain his ashes in this cave. Level 6 has 4 caves, namely "Tham Lom", "Natural Pool", "Tham Hoi Khong" and "Tham Champa" or "Tham Savoey". At present, the archaeological site is in the area of ​​Wat Khao Pina. The temple was established in 1857 and was granted Wisung Kham Sima on April 10, 1972 (National Buddhism Office 2022).
