archaeological essence

Archaeological evidence found from the 1986 excavation of a prehistoric archaeological site south of Muang Sing includes four skeletons (skeletons no. 1, 2, 3 and 4) and a burial dedication. together with the bone factory which shows the rituals and beliefs about burial The 3 skeletons found were 3 complete skeletons, namely skeletons No. 1, 2 and 4. All corpses were buried along the north-southeast direction. As detailed (Division of Archeology 1987:172; Saithip Chantarurisak 2013) as follows:

skeleton number 1 Found at a depth of 2.13 meters from the imaginary level, or about 1.48 meters from the soil surface. incomplete due to interference from soil animals and others Unable to determine age or gender burial direction Turn your head to the southeast There were many objects found with skeletons. Making the tomb very long, about 3.20 meters, the things found in the tomb are both bronze vessels. Ornaments such as bronze bracelets, shell bracelets, stone beads, glass beads, iron tools, terracotta bowls, 8 pottery containers arranged in a row on the toe of the foot, and a bronze ladle placed in the earthenware at the toe.

skeleton number 2 Found at a depth of 2.15 meters from the imaginary level, or about 1.5 meters from the soil surface. It is a female skeleton, about 30-35 years old, the direction of burial. Turning his head to the northwest of the tomb was found in a few places. and only 2 pottery, a flat, black clay pot, looks like a mortar to break in a way that is deliberately crushed Placed on the right side of the head and simple earthenware glazed with red clay Placed on the forearm of the right hand A small bronze ax with a bong was found on the right elbow, one with grain imprints on this bronze ax.

skeleton number 3 Found at a depth of 2.32 meters from the imaginary level, or about 1.77 meters from the soil surface. The grave was not found. Only the skull was found.

skeleton number 4 Found at a depth of 2.57 meters from the imaginary level, or about 1.96 meters from the soil surface. Found under the skeleton number 1 is a female skeleton, about 20-30 years old, head to the southeast. Excavators speculated that it was probably buried with skeleton number 1 because

1. The direction of the burial facing southeast as well

2. Objects buried together with corpses or consecrated objects have similar characteristics. and placed in the same position, such as a bronze container placed overhead A bronze container shaped like a bowl placed at the head. Pottery placed at the tip of the foot, covered with clay, ornaments such as agate beads. Carnelian beads, glass beads, shell bracelets, stone bracelets and bronze bracelets, etc.

3. The neat appearance of the two graves There were no signs of interfering with each other. Especially the skeleton tomb number 4 below.

Currently, this excavation pit is on display. Covered buildings were built and archaeological information was posted on placards. various archaeological evidence Exhibited in the skeleton has been preserved and strengthened.

There are two skeletons on display, as the other two are unable to determine age and gender. They are also disturbed by the animals in the soil. Therefore, it was taken up from the pit and kept at the Ban Kao National Museum. Mueang Kanchanaburi District

From the evidence in the findings, it can be concluded that around the Kwai Noi River on the south side of the city wall of Sing In the past, Muang Sing was established and Prasat Muang Sing was built. There are indigenous communities living along the banks of the river. The excavated area is the area where the cemetery is used for burial in particular. because no evidence of residency was found clearly As for the characteristics of the difference in soil layers, it is not clearly seen. The color of the soil found is almost always the same and is disturbed by flora and fauna. This community is very culturally prosperous. They also have connections with other communities. The evidence found was bronze, glass beads, stone beads, all of which were rare in this area. Objects found and various archaeological evidence Similar to those found at Ban Don Ta Phet Archaeological Site, Phanom Thuan District, Kanchanaburi Province. which is estimated to be around 1,800 years ago
