Historical story

The pills that killed Marilyn Monroe and conspiracy theories

On this day, on August 5, 1962, the absolute star of her day and beyond was found dead at the age of 36.

Marilyn was found naked, lying face down on her bed. On the pillow next to her was the phone receiver and on the nightstand were pills. However, no glass of water was found anywhere.

Her death was covered by a veil of mystery with the official version being suicide.

Some time ago, in March of this year, Gianni Russo, 57 years after the death of the blonde diva, gave his own version, talking about her "murder" by Bobby Kennedy.

The New York Post, quoting Russo's statements, reported that Bobby Kennedy, with help from the Mafia, organized her murder as he did not want her relationship with him, but also with the then US president John Kennedy, to be revealed.

"It was Bobby. No one else would kill her. She was a girl who liked to have fun. If you gave her two or three pills and a couple of drinks she could f... anybody," Russo told the New York newspaper. Post".

He claimed to have had a casual relationship with Monroe. For Rousseau, her death did not come from an overdose of barbiturates.

"The Mafia wanted to get their hands on John F. Kennedy. Especially the leader of the Chicago Mafia, Sam Giancana, did not let the most famous and eternal Hollywood star out of his sight because that way he would trap the American president. The mobsters had set up a awesome plan to trap with cameras a hotel where Marilyn, Robert Kennedy and John F. Kennedy would be staying and make a "threesome" They would use the video to pressure the President to invade Cuba so that the Mafia would take back its casinos. But the plan fell through because the President of the United States didn't show up," the actor said, adding that Marilyn found out about the scheme and threatened to report the Mafia to the media.

Of course, Russo's statements were not evaluated as secure information, but what is certain is that he was related to the actress.

Darwin Porter also talks about the murder of Marilyn by the Italian Mafia in his biography of the actress. According to Porter, Kennedy and Marilyn had a very bad fight as he wanted a divorce and she threatened him that if that happened, she would reveal their relationship.

The medical examiner confirmed that the cause of Marilyn's death was the pills found next to her. It remains a mystery why the maid called for help at 4am while the actress had died between 9.30pm and 11.30pm.

The maid claimed to have seen her bedroom light on, knocked but no one answered. So, as he said, he didn't want to bother her. Then, worried, he called the actress' psychiatrist who broke the window and found Monroe dead. He called the authorities.

The police officer who found her said:"Her arms were down at her sides and her legs were completely straight. It was the most obvious death scene I had ever seen. The pill bottles on her bedside table were neatly arranged, the body it seemed to her deliberately placed that way, everything looked very neat".

Statements that left open questions and triggered many scenarios.

In his 1964 book "The Strange Death of Marilyn Monroe," Frank Capel claimed that Monroe was killed by "Communists."

Capel argued that both Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe were communists and wanted to destroy the United States.

However, he writes that Monroe was eventually murdered by the communists themselves after an "internal" disagreement.

In the 1973 book "Marilyn:The Biography", Nobel Prize-winning author Norman Mailer wrote that both Kennedy and Marilyn were assassinated by far-right FBI and CIA agents.

The reason; For Mailer the famous Bay of Pigs invasion, the failed US military intervention in communist Cuba, went wrong because it was sabotaged from within by Kennedy himself.

Years later Mailer revealed that his claims were made up for commercial reasons.

As for her relationship with drugs, a real "myth" prevails here. Marilyn was addicted to hypnotics, but not to other substances. She had stated that she suffered from anxiety and insomnia but only took the pills prescribed by her doctor.

Her death was attributed to barbiturates, but the actress did not take other heavy substances, such as amphetamines, which other stars of the era did. It is a given that her doctors, whom she trusted completely, were mistreated.

The pills

Professor of Forensics - Toxicology Francesco Mari, together with his wife Elisabetta Bertol wanted to do their own autopsy.

"In the case of Marilyn, we were not able to examine the body," Professor Marie told BHmagazino.

"However," he said, "we consulted the documents, the literature surrounding her death and above all the toxicological reports of the time, which we studied with the modern data of forensic toxicology, as an expert would have done 50 years ago".

"By first studying the reports of the toxicology tests and comparing the data with a number of similar cases, it is found that the star should have taken at least 45-47 capsules of Nembutal" Francesco Mari.

He himself explained why it is impossible for the sexiest Hollywood star to have taken the drug orally.

"Firstly, because that day she only had 25 capsules available to her. And, secondly, why there should have been residues of the drug in the gastric fluid, which were never found."

As for the injection drug case, the Italian professor said that despite a thorough examination of the lifeless body, assistant medical examiner Thomas Noguchi found no needle marks. Instead, he noticed a large inflammation in the intestine. Well, as Marry and his colleagues conclude, "the drug had been passed through an enema".
