After being a supporter and responsible for the deaths of many people during the Terror, Maximilien Robespierre he could do nothing to avoid the same fate for himself and his followers.

The video which follows, posted by youtube.com, is taken from the film 1989 The French Revolution and reconstructs the last dramatic moments in the life of the lawyer from Arras, from his arrest at the Hotel de Ville to the guillotine.

As for Robespierre's jaw injury, an episode on which the sources are conflicting, the film embraces the thesis of the accidentally shot from the gun of the revolutionary leader himself.

Also reported in the news is the heartbreaking scream emitted by the victim shortly before the beheading.
