History of Swaraj Dal

In 1922, the 38th session of Congress was held in Gaya Nagar in Bihar. Its president was Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das. In this session, the issue of Congress participating in the legislature or continuing its boycott was debated and the decision was taken in favor of boycott.

But Motilal Nehru, Chittaranjan Das, Satyamurti etc. were in favor of entering the legislature. He formed the Swaraj Dal. In February, 1923, the branch of Swaraj Dal was formed in Bihar and Shri Krishna Singh was made its leader. Its initial meeting was held in Patna on 2 June. Swaraj Dal did not have a special impact in Bihar. The failure of Swaraj Dal in Bihar was completed by December 1923 and it became ineffective by 1925 AD.
