Celtic Ancestors - History of Celtic Ancestors

Still in the Bronze Age, a set of cultures of Central Europe had certain similar customs, characteristic of the Rhine-Danube region. These cultures settled in the region called "Campo das Urnas", in reference to funerary traditions.

These peoples, around 1200 BC. - 1000 BC, began a process of individualization:The Celts in the west, Slavs in the north, the Latin-speaking peoples in the south and the Illyrians in the southeast.

The Iron Age is divided into two distinct civilizations, the first of which is the Hallstatt culture (named after the tombs of the Austrian city of the same name). This early stage of the Iron Age, which runs from 800 BC. to 450 BC, it was characterized by the making of bronze weapons and great iron weapons. The Celts are believed to have been the first people in Europe to effectively use and work iron. It was in this period that, after several excursions, the Celts concluded the occupation of the British Isles.

In the 6th century BC yet, therefore, in the Hallstattian period, the Celts reached the Iberian peninsula, where they formed the Celtiberian people. The second phase of the Iron Age, called La Tène in reference to a city in northern Switzerland, marked the emergence of Celtic culture and expansion.
