In the Treaty of Paris (1898) Spain, defeated in the Spanish-American War, ceded Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Philippines and the island of Guam to the United States, then an emerging power. A year later, in 1899, Spain handed over to Germany the last remnants of its empire in the Pacific:the Caroline Islands, the Marianas (except Guam) and Palau. With this, Spain liquidated the remains of its old colonial empire. But do you know where these territories are located? So that you can locate them, here are these maps.
