Anne:the spirit and Brittany as a dowry

Born in 1477 in Nantes in the castle of her parents, Anne of Brittany received an exceptional education, because she was, despite her sex, the only legitimate heiress of the Duke of Brittany. His father, François II, decides to arm him intellectually to face the political charges that will fall to him. This is how, orphaned at the age of 11, she inherited both the ducal crown and a conflict against the King of France, Charles VIII. Having become a warlord, she nevertheless had a major advantage as a woman:her emissaries offered those of the King of France a matrimonial union which would put an end to the confrontation, on the condition of accompanying it with a contract of marriage favorable to the Bretons.
On December 6, 1491, Anne and Charles married at the Château de Langeais. However, when Charles VIII died in 1498, none of their children survived. As provided for in the marriage contract, Anne marries Charles's heir, his cousin Louis XII. She is crowned Queen of France for the second time. But of this second union will survive only two daughters, Claude and Renée. The marriage of Claude, heiress of Brittany, will be Anne's ultimate concern, since Brittany is her dowry, as it was for herself. This is the future King François I st who won the bet and made the duchy a French province in 1532.
