Armageddon | Definition &Facts

Armageddon (probably Hebrew:"Hill of Megiddo") in New Testament , where the kings of the earth under demonic leadership will wage war against the forces of God at the end of the story. Armageddon is mentioned only once in the Bible Revelation to John or the Apocalypse of St. John (16:16).

The Palestinian city Megiddo , located on a pass that includes a road between Egypt and Syria masters , was probably chosen to symbolize such a battle as it had been the scene of many military encounters due to its strategic location. (Megiddo was also the scene of a decisive battle in 1918 during the World War I and gave his name to the victor:Lord Allenby of Megiddo.) The term Armageddon was often used by Protestant fundamentalists to mean to refer to an impending disastrous battle between the forces of good and evil. ( See apocalyptic literature .) It has also been used figuratively, often by peace activists, to describe a possible nuclear world war.
