archaeological essence

Wat Khao Poon is under the Maha Nikaya Sangha. According to the history of the temple, it was said that it was built in 1681 and received Wisung Kham Sima in 1751, while in the list of temples nationwide of the National Buddhism Office (2022) states that it was granted Wisung Kham Sima on March 7, 2001, the important things within the temple are The well that the villagers believed The water in the well is sacred. The water never dries up from the well. Villagers often bring water from the wells back to worship, wash their heads, bathe and drink, claiming to cure ailments and relieve pain.

Sacred well is a pond with a stone wall (limestone) 1 pond. The pond is wider than the mouth of the well. There are 3 mouths of the well, but there are 2 consecutive mouths. So it's like there are 2 wells located side by side. It is a large pond and a small pond, each with a cement wall about 80 centimeters high, surrounded on all four sides. by Big pond It is a continuous round pit with a long pit, the total size of the well is approximately 1 meter wide and approximately 2 meters long in fractions of small wells. looks like a round hole The diameter is about 30-40 centimeters, and the two holes are about 2 meters deep and there is water until the mouth of the well is overflowing. The bottom of the well had a lot of coins. An airy pavilion with corrugated tiles was built to cover the two sacred ponds (built in 1977).

The Sacred Well was likely formed by the collapse of the ground due to the formation of subsurface limestone cavities. (Limestone is the base rock of this area) resulting in a well with a wide hollow inside the pond. Observing the thickness of the current temple ground and the top of the pond or underground limestone cavity, it is only 20 cm thick.

In addition to the holy well around the temple There are also many wells of the same nature.

At the pavilion beside the holy well There is also a replica of the Buddha's footprint enshrined.
