archaeological essence

Prasat Thong is located within the ancient community. At present, Prasat Thong archaeological site looks like a single Khmer castle, made of bricks and mortar, with a height of about 8 meters from the current ground. The castle is located on a brick dam filled with earth. About 3.2 meters wide on each side, recessed, solid appearance. Information from the Fine Arts Department indicates that the walls of the building or the outer house are made of false doors on all four sides. But now the south and west gates have been punched into the doorway until the inner core of the building is visible. and at the current south gate enshrines a stucco Buddha image enshrined on a pedestal. The door frames of the castle are decorated with stucco motifs. The upper part of the castle next to the relics is up to three layers, decorated with stucco.

From the artistic style and age, it is assumed that this golden castle was built by Khmer immigrants in the late Ayutthaya period. or early Rattanakosin period
