General Condition

Khao Klang is a domed limestone mountain. The area where the paintings are found looks like a natural cliff shelter. Located in the east of Khao Klang The cliff shed faces east. It has a length along the north-south direction of about 40 meters. In front of my shed is a 7 meter wide soil field.

Geological conditions

Khao Klang is a limestone mountain in the Chai Buri (TRch) category of the Triassic period, consisting of gray to light gray limestone. clearly show the rock thick layer to not show layer crystallized rock This rock category is about 245-210 million years old (Department of Mineral Resources 2007).

Important archaeological evidence includes prehistoric paintings. and Ayutthaya period color paintings depicting the history of the Buddha and Buddhist stories and illustrations of ceremonies Colors used in drawing are red and black, divided into 10 groups as follows:

Group 1 is on the south side of the wall of the shed. Write a picture of the Buddha images arranged in a line called the number 23 Buddha images. This group of paintings is in a very bad condition. The bottom of the image of the Buddha image appears like two people sitting on a junk boat. It is a group of pictures from the Ayutthaya period.

Group 2 is a picture in the middle of the stone wall. It is the most prominent image depicting a figure carrying a chedi. A giant clothed in tartan had a snake wrapped around him. To the left and right of the giant was written a small pagoda. On the top of the left pagoda, there is a picture of a bird perched on a branch. Under the picture of the bird is a bearded man. holding a rope to lead 2 people, presumably to be a picture of Chu Chok leading Kanha Chali It is a group of pictures from the Ayutthaya period.

Group 3 is in the picture of Group 2, the lower part of the shed. Write a picture of an unidentified animal. It might be a prehistoric image.

Group 4 is next to Group 3, to the north. Write a portrait of an elephant catching or defeating an elephant. It is a group of pictures from the Ayutthaya period.

Group 5 is next to Group 4, to the north. It is a large group of images, but soot is captured so that most of the characteristics of the image cannot be identified. In the left part of the picture, you can see the image of people holding hands. It is a group of pictures from the Ayutthaya period.

Group 6 is next to Group 5, to the north. Draw a picture of an elephant walking facing north. It is a group of pictures from the Ayutthaya period.

Group 7 is next to Group 6, to the north. Write a picture of a person wearing a dress similar to a ceremonial outfit. On the left side of the picture is a portrait wearing a headdress resembling a buffalo horn. It was probably a figure of a priest performing the ritual. Next up is a portrait of people walking in a row. It is a group of prehistoric images.

Group 8, next to the picture of Group 7, go north, depict 3 palace-like buildings, inside the middle castle, depict a person sitting inside. look like stripes It is a group of pictures from the Ayutthaya period.

Group 9 sits on a canopy above the picture of Group 7, painting the reclining Buddha image facing north. head facing south It is a group of pictures from the Ayutthaya period.

Group 10 is at the northern end of the wall of the shed. Draw a picture of flowers, Dharma Chakra and circle dots
