archaeological essence

Dan Yai Stone Shed There is another name Dan Yai Rock Shed, where the word "Dan" in the Isan language means a hill or stone courtyard, therefore, Dan Yai Rock Shed is the name that was given to describe the geographical features of the stone sheds located on the large stone courtyard (pitak Chai Jatuchai 2010 :175)

The Dan Yai 3 stone shed has a colorful painting pattern on the ceiling of the stone shed facing north. It is a group of colored paintings written in stripes, irregular shapes, jagged lines, curved lines, parallel lines. parallelogram pattern triangular stripes and rectangular stripes come together to form the same figure Until I can't find a beginning and an end (Archaeology Division 1989a :118-119; Payao Khemnak 1996 :149; Pitakchai Jatuchai 2010 :180)

Phayao Khemnak (Department of Fine Arts 2532a:119), a surveyor in 1986, assumed that these paintings should have a meaning in terms of rituals rather than expressions of art. This rock shed would not be a permanent shelter. but used as a place for some common ceremonies of lowland groups in the vicinity of the source.

While Pitakchai Chatuchai (2010:180) assumed that from the appearance of a large stone shed and a hollow inside that can be used to avoid the sun and rain. together with the stone sheds near the water source, Huai Dan Yai Therefore, it is possible that the rock shelter could be used as a habitat for hunting and hunting. The color painting is probably a symbol to represent the occupancy of a residence or the territorial possession of a family or group of people.
