The condition of the source is a large rock shed consisting of stones 3 meters wide, 8 meters long, 1.8 meters high from the ground, stacked on a raised stone courtyard like a large base. with a stone shed extending to the south (Pitachai Chatuchai 2010 :44)

From the nature of the stone sheds can be divided into 2 rooms:the west room and the room on the east with traces of floor extraction as a line of columns to clearly separate the rooms (Pitachai Chatuchai 2010 :44)

Phu Phra Bat is a small sandstone mountain. A child in the Phu Phan mountain range or Phu Phan Kham. The average height above sea level is about 320-350 meters. The west of the mountain is steep. and cant descend to the east.

The general condition of Phu Phra Bat is sparse forest. There are natural vegetation types such as hardwood trees, maka wood, red wood, Ching Chang wood, Pradu wood, and deciduous dipterocarp trees. On Phu Phra Bat, there are many open stone terraces, rocks and sandstone sheds scattered around. caused by the action of water and wind on the sandstone.

Because there are quite a lot of hardwood covered. Together with many other natural plants, Phu Phra Bat is classified in the National Reserved Forest Area, “Pah Khuean Nam”, and is the source of many streams such as Huai Hin Lat, Huai Dan Yai, Huai Hin Rong, Huai Nang Usa and Huai Khok Khat. which flows into the east, confluence with the Mekong River at Tha Bo District Nong Khai Province

Geological conditions

Phu Phra Bat is a sandstone hill. in the Phu Phan Noi mountain range at the edge of the western plateau of Udon Thani Sandstone is white, orange, pebbled, grit consists of quartz, chert, red talc. some igneous rocks with traces There are shale and gravel interspersed. It is in the Phu Phan rock unit, Korat series, in the lower - mid-Cretaceous period, or about 90-140 million years ago. The sandstone in the area has outstanding geological features. Because there are different properties in each floor. and has undergone geological erosion by water and wind. Makes the appearance of the landscape that is strange in many areas, such as Hor Nang Usa, Tham Chang, Father Ta's coffin, Thao Baros coffin, Nang Usa coffin, Pho Ta temple, Phra Ku Nang Usa cave, Nang Usa pond. Quail Stone Shed as well as the geological, physical and geological features found in the sandstone. which is a clear stratum or sedimentary rock For example, showing interleaving layers with gravel layers. An oblique-level display showing a change in water flow direction. (Department of Mineral Resources 2009 :38-39)

various shapes formed from sandstone and gravel sand have different texture The highly durable rock layers protrude into rock sheds. or a layer of rock overlaid on top The less durable rock layers will erode. or being eroded or is a concave part under the hard rock Become a rock shed or a rocky cliff such as Hor Nang Usa, etc.

archaeological essence

Thao Baros stable is a large stone shed consisting of stones 3 meters wide, 8 meters long, 1.8 meters high from the ground, stacked on a raised stone courtyard like a large base. with a stone shed extending to the south (Pitachai Chatuchai 2010 :44)

From the nature of the stone sheds can be divided into 2 rooms:the west room and the room on the east with traces of floor extraction in the line of columns to clearly separate the rooms. The details are as follows (Pitachai Chatuchai 2010 :44-46)

West room It is a rectangular room with dimensions of 4.9 meters wide, 5.2 meters long, and 1.85 meters high, with decorative extraction on the floor and walls to make it look like a room. and chiseled out a ledge around the rock shed. And there is also a room divided into 2 parts by extracting the floor to be a flat floor at different levels. which the left side of the room is 0.3 meters higher than the right side. In addition, the edge of the stone shed is 0.1 meters high and 0.4 meters thick, there are traces of extraction for the benefit of placing wooden pillars supporting the ground between the stone shed. or part of the wall surrounding the stone shed.

East room It is a semicircular room with a width of 3 meters and a length of 3.3 meters. The floor and walls are extracted to be smooth. But now the floor has deteriorated a lot.

Pitakchai Chatuchai (2010 :46) assumed that from the nature of the rock shed that has been modified by dividing the stone shed into 2 rooms, there is a way to connect to each other. The room on the west side is large. Floors and walls were extracted until smooth. And the floor has been adjusted to 2 levels, which is probably the modification of the stone sheds for use as accommodation for monks or cultivators. The western edge of the stone shed also has traces of chiseling to form a fence around the room.

the eastern part It is an open-air room where the floor and walls are extracted until smooth. which is likely to be used as an enshrinement of Buddha images or idols in Buddhism (Pitachai Chatuchai 2010 :46)

Therefore, considering the use of the Thao Baros stable stone shed Therefore, it may be assumed that it is used as a cloister. or as a place of cultivating monks or cultivators (Pitachai Chatuchai 2010 :46)

Ajarn Sumit Pitipat (1977:12-13) assumed that from the condition of the stone shed that was decorated and there were traces of soot on the ceiling of the stone shed. It should have been used as a residence for people for a long time.

According to the tale Usa-Baras said, Thao Baras had brought a horse to bind it here. Then secretly went to Nang Usa at Nang Usa Hall (Phayao Khemnak and Monjun Namthip 1990 :45)
