archaeological essence

Wat Rae Rai is a royal temple. Affiliated with Maha Nikaya It is located on the west side of the canal Chak Phra. near the mouth of Bang Ramat canal (About 100 meters from the mouth of Bang Ramat canal to the south) is a large temple, but there is no road to the temple. There are only footpaths and waterways at Khlong Chak Phra.

According to the history of the Department of Religious Affairs Wat Rarai was built around 1780 or maybe earlier. There is a tradition that three different lords built this temple. Later, the temple was dilapidated and lacked maintenance. and eventually became an abandoned temple The villagers came to renovate it again. Therefore, Wat Rae Rai is a temple with monks. and was bestowed Wisung Kham Seema around 1876 (Saran Thongpan 2006? :52)

There is another history Said that Wat Drerai was renovated by 3 princes, namely Krom Phra Narathewet. Krom Luang Naresyothi and Krom Luang Seni Burirat

Compared to the royal family book (Department of Fine Arts 2536), it should be Krom Muen Narathewet. Krom Muen Nares Yothi and Krom Luang Seni Borirak Son of the Royal Palace Department of the Bowon Sathan Phimuk The reign of King Rama I (Saran Thongpan 2006? :52)

However, document evidence appears in the Royal Gazette of King Rama 5, Volume 1, Sheet 43 concerning the Royal granting of Wisungkhamsima Wat Raerai that (Wichayada Thoeng and Sarun Thongpan 2012 :107)

“There is a royal command proclaimed to all people that At the Phra Ubosot of Wat Rae Rai, Bang Ramad Subdistrict, Bangkok, with a length of 18 wa and a width of 12 wa, an orphan mom Mom Chao writes Mom Chao Sawang with Luang Phuttamakorn to pay his respects to His Majesty the King I wish to be Wisukhamsima His Majesty gave permission, but on Friday, the eighth lunar month, the fourteenth waxing moon, the Year of the Buddha, 2424 Buddhist Lent.”

Therefore, it can be stated that the period of receiving the Wisukhamsima of Wat Rae Rai is It falls on the Friday of the 8th lunar month, the 14th lunar month, the Year of the Snake, 1881, which probably means that the latter chapel seen in the present was built not long before that.

The names of these three princesses are examined from the book. Princess Anuwong of the Chakri dynasty (Wichyada Thong and Sarun Thongpan 2012:108) found that all of them were daughters of Prince Krom Khun Isaranurak. Issarangkun dynasty Therefore, it is possible that these three princesses are the source of the story. "The Three Princes" or "The Three Princes" who built or renovated Wat Rae Rai

Prapat Chuwichian (2006 :78) assumed that Wat Rae Rai was built or at least renovated during the reign of King Rama III, which may be old to the Ayutthaya period.

In 2011, there was an announcement inviting the faithful to join in the purchase of land to build a road to the temple.

Praphat Chuwichian (2006 :78) studied Buddhist characteristics and assumed that it was a Buddha image in the Ayutthaya period. And this viharn area should be built over the remains of the original viharn or ubosot from the Ayutthaya period.

Since the reign of King Rama V, Wat Kai Tia Taling Chan was built in 1936 and Wat Rae Rai was probably built around the same time. Phra Phutthachai Mondop was renovated during 1978-1979
