Wat Pak Nam North Bank

General condition

Wat Pak Nam North Bank is a temple that is still in use today. It is located along the northern bank of Bang Chuek Nang canal. Opposite the canal and Wat Paknam on the south bank (Khuha Sawan Sub-District, Phasi Charoen District, Bangkok) about 200 meters west of Khlong Chak Phra.

The area is floodplain. The surrounding area is an urban community. There are people's houses and buildings. densely located

On the south side of the temple are houses and Bang Chuek Nang canal. On the north side is the Ubonratana Rajakanyarat Wittayalai School. (Formerly known as Paknam Wittayakhom School) on the west and east are the houses of the people.

There was no road leading to the temple. There was only a narrow cement corridor. (Soi Ying Charoen - Khlong Bang Chueang Nang) that connects the temple area with Soi Wat Pak Nam - Wat Kaew The car can run through the west of the temple, but in 2004 the Paknam Wittayakhom School opened a fence behind it. Make a road into the temple courtyard thus allowing cars to enter the temple courtyard.

Wat Pak Nam on the north bank is a Rat temple. Affiliated with Maha Nikaya It is located along the northern bank of Bang Chuek Nang canal. Opposite the canal and Wat Paknam on the south bank (Khuha Sawan Subdistrict, Phasi Charoen District, Bangkok) According to the history of the temple, it was built around 1827, the name and history of the creator are unknown. Was granted Wisung Kham Seema in 1835 B.E.

The reason why the name of Wat Pak Nam Khong comes from the location near the mouth of Khlong Bang Chueang Nang and Khlong Bang Noi, flowing together with the Mon canal and the Chak Phra Canal. but with another temple located on the south bank the villagers called “Wat Pak Nam on the North Bank”

In addition, there is a legendary history that in the past, relatives helped to build Wat Pak Nam. After a misunderstanding, they crossed the canal to build another temple. Therefore, it had to be named differently as Wat Pak Nam on the north bank. and Wat Pak Nam Fang Tai (Saran Thongpan 2006? :38)

Wat Paknam on the north bank does not have a direct road to the temple. Only a 50 meter long cement walkway (named Soi Ying Charoen - Khlong Bang Chueang Nang) connects to Soi Wat Pak Nam - Wat Kaew on the west side of the temple.

The Hall of Fame It is a Thai-style wooden building, 15 meters wide and 18 meters long. It is one of the few buildings that still retains its original form. It was not converted into a 2-storey concrete building like other temples.

Chao Mae Thapthim It is a shrine at Pak Khlong Bang Chueak Nang. There is a history attached to the court that it was originally a Thai house. but has been restored when 2003-2004 Has been rebuilt as a Chinese cab. Enshrined 3 statues of goddesses, namely Chao Mae Thapthim. Goddess Kaenchan and Goddess Chan Hom There is a ceremony to summon the goddess to the new shrine in January 2005. There is an occasional ceremony for the goddess.
