14th Book of Egypt. The representations of craft scenes painted in the Theban tombs in Luxor provide valuable information on the technical practices and gestures used to melt gold, prepare ebony or jewelry, etc.

Sawing the ebony trunk. Tomb of Ipuky and Nebamon.

For this 14th part of the Notebooks of Egypt, a selection of photographs taken in the Theban tombs in Luxor, where the team led by archaeologist Philippe Martinez and chemist Philippe Walter (CNRS) works. These images supplement the archaeological data obtained during the excavations. They also reveal the practices of the craftsmen of ancient Egypt... These notebooks have been published since November 19, 2018 on the Sciences et Avenir website.; they reveal day by day the work of researchers on the graves of officials of Ramses II, near the Ramasseum, the memorial temple of the Egyptian pharaoh.
