Cibola: When Coronado and his men arrived at Cibola, they found a group of Zuni villages rather than the grand, gold-filled cities they had expected. The Zuni lived in stone and adobe dwellings, and while they did possess some turquoise and silver jewelry, their wealth was nowhere near what Coronado had envisioned.
Quivera: Coronado's expedition continued to Quivera, where he encountered the Wichita people. Quivera was not a city but rather a network of scattered Wichita settlements. The Wichita were farmers and hunters who lived in lodges made of grass and hides. Coronado found no gold or silver here either, and his expedition was ultimately disappointed by the reality they encountered in both Cibola and Quivera.
