In 1513, Ponce de León set out on an expedition from Puerto Rico in search of the fabled fountain. He explored the southeastern coast of North America, specifically around the present-day state of Florida, hoping to find the rejuvenating waters. Although he explored the region extensively, he never found the Fountain of Youth and had to return to Puerto Rico without achieving his primary objective.
Ponce de León's exploration of Florida did have other significant outcomes, such as the discovery of the Gulf Stream, a powerful ocean current that flows along the southeastern coast of the United States. However, his search for the Fountain of Youth remains one of the most well-known and enduring legends associated with his exploration of the New World.
