What were Egyptian sculptures made of?

Ancient Egyptian sculptures were made from a variety of materials including stone, wood, metal, and pottery. The most commonly used stones for sculpture were limestone, sandstone and granite, all of which were available locally. Wood, including cedar, sycamore, and acacia was also widely used, but fewer wooden sculptures have survived intact as they biodegrade more easily than stone. Metals such as gold, silver, and copper were used for small sculptures and in combination with other materials for larger works. Faience, a type of glazed ceramic, was also used to make sculptures, particularly smaller ornamental objects.
