Who discvered genes and gentics?

Gregor Mendel is widely regarded as the founder of genetics and the one who discovered genes. Through his research on pea plants in the mid-19th century, Mendel observed the patterns of inheritance and formulated the basic principles of genetics, including the concept of dominant and recessive traits and the idea of allele segregation. While it took a few decades for others to recognize the significance of his work, Mendel's insights laid the foundation for our understanding of heredity and the field of genetics that developed later.
