Historical story

How long did mummification last?

The practice of mummification in ancient Egypt lasted for over 2,500 years, beginning in the Predynastic Period (around 3000 BC) and continuing until the Roman Period (4th century AD). Mummification reached its peak during the New Kingdom (1570-1070 BC), when it was considered a highly skilled and sophisticated technique. However, during the Late Period (664-332 BC) and the Roman Period, the quality of mummification declined, as evidenced by less elaborate processes and less attention to detail.
