What was Desert Storm about?

The Gulf War, also known as Operation Desert Storm, began in January 1991 and lasted until February 28, 1991. The war was sparked by Iraq's invasion of Kuwait on August 2, 1990, and the subsequent occupation of the country. Following the invasion, the United Nations Security Council passed Resolution 660, which condemned the invasion and demanded Iraq's immediate withdrawal from Kuwait. When Iraq failed to comply with the resolution, the United States and other countries formed a coalition to enforce the resolution.

The coalition forces launched a massive air campaign against Iraq on January 17, 1991. The air campaign was followed by a ground invasion of Kuwait on February 24, 1991. The ground invasion was successful, and Iraq was forced to withdraw from Kuwait. The war ended with a cease-fire on February 28, 1991.

The Gulf War was a significant military conflict that involved a coalition of countries, led by the United States, against Iraq. The war had a profound impact on the Middle East, and its legacy is still being felt today.
