What did the queen train to be during world war 2?

The queen trained as a mechanic and driver during World War II. She joined the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS), a women's branch of the British Army, in 1945 and served for five months. During her time in the ATS, she learned basic engine maintenance, driving, and map reading. She also trained alongside other women in her unit, who were from a variety of backgrounds and social classes.
