Hugues lAbbé(? - 886)

Hugues l'Abbé is the son-in-law of Robert le Fort. On the latter's death, Hugues inherited the property of the Robertian family, and became the most influential aristocrat in the kingdom. Hugues ensures the supervision of Eudes and Robert, the two young sons of Robert le Fort. He became adviser to Louis II le Bègue then to the young kings Louis III and Carloman. It was he who called the German Emperor Charles the Fat to reign over France. Hugues plays his role well and prepares the rise of Eudes and Robert who will both be kings of France.
