The invention of the ice cream cone as we know it today, the edible wafer dates back to the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Actually thanks to the poet Giuseppe Parini, which mentions “rigid cones ", We know that as early as the 1700s it was customary to eat ice cream kept in cones, but these were glass containers with a teaspoon.

In 1895 the Italian peddler Italo Marchionny he started selling ice cream in New York, but soon realized that the glass bowls, which then had to be washed, were not the best convenience to enjoy ice cream walking down the street.

So he came up with an idea that would prove to be brilliant: cones to eat, made of waffle, like biscuits.

This "walking cone" immediately met with great success, so much so that in 1903 its creator decided to patent a special machine to produce them.
