History of Khilafat Movement

After the end of World War I, when the victorious nations treated the Turkish Sultan unjustly and the British government did not fulfill its assurance to sympathetically consider the demand for Indian self-government, the anger of Indian Muslims and nationalists flared up. This culminated in the Khilafat Movement (1919-23).

There was active cooperation of this Mazharul Haque. On February 16, 1919, a meeting was held in Patna under the chairmanship of Hasan Imam, in which it was asked to form public opinion for proper treatment by the Allies towards the Caliph. On November 30, 1919, in a meeting, Hasan Imam spoke of boycotting the peace ceremony. A similar resolution was passed in Ranchi under the leadership of Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad.

On March 19, 1920, Muslims went on strike all over Bihar, which had a huge impact. In April, Maulana Shaukat Ali, a prominent leader of the Khilafat movement, came to Patna. In 1920 Khilafat movement spread all over Bihar.
