Waldeck , a former circle (county) and state Germany , between Westphalia and Hesse-Nassau. It was a principality for centuries and a republic from November 1918 to March 1929 and on State of Weimar Republic . On April 1, 1929, at the request of its people, it was merged with Prussia. It had an area of 1,088 square kilometers, covered with hills with farmland, mines, and slate and stone quarries. The old capital was Arolsen.
