On July 21, 1862, but according to evidence that there was no city pillar before, Ranong municipality initiated a project for the construction of the City Pillar Shrine in the year. 1987 for the people of Ranong province to worship and be the main anchor of the mind.

Ranong City Pillar Shrine was built in the area that used to be the residence of Phraya Rattana Sethi (Ranong governor). Foundation stone laying ceremony was held on February 21, 1988 at 9.09 AM.

The Ranong Municipality, which operates the construction of the Ranong City Pillar Shrine on behalf of Ranong Province, has requested cooperation from the Fine Arts Department to help design the construction and supply skilled craftsmen.
