archaeological essence

Ancient City Group No. 3 Muang Sema consists of the base of a chedi and a small viharn. It is assumed that it was built around the 12th-15th Buddhist century.

- Chedi is an octagonal chedi made of bricks without mortar. The state left only the base, about 70 centimeters high, with the eastern base having collapsed condition. In the center of the base of the pagoda on each side is a path up and down. It is assumed that it may be a round bell-shaped chedi.

The layout of this pagoda can be compared to the number 10 pagoda. at U-Thong City, Suphan Buri Province (Office of Archeology and National Museum at 10, Suphan Buri 2002:46) and the base of the octagonal chedi at Khu Bua. Ratchaburi Province (Somsak Rattanakul 1992 :55)

- The viharn is located to the north of the chedi. The damaged state left only brick lines arranged in a rectangular shape, size 6.70 x 10.90 meters. Inside the Viharn building, next to the back wall is a hill higher than other areas. Square bricks. The area around the Vihara is made of large sandstone. The appearance of the sema leaves has no pattern. Roughly decorated stirrups are embroidered in 4 directions, namely the west side. southwest side north side and south Some of them are broken and damaged. Presumably, it was originally planted around the viharn in all 8 directions.

Construction Techniques The bricks used for construction are large bricks with rice husks mixed with rice husks. It is a brick used in Dvaravati culture. Stacked up without mortar A sand filled core and a small purple rock
