What are cave draperies?

Cave draperies are delicate, curtain-like mineral formations that hang from the ceilings of caves. They are formed by the precipitation of calcite from water that seeps through the cave ceiling. As the water evaporates, the calcite is deposited, building up over time to form the draperies. Cave draperies are often found in association with other cave formations, such as stalactites and stalagmites.
