What was the outcome of Reign Terror?

The Reign of Terror was a period of intense political repression and violence during the French Revolution. It began on 5 September 1793 and lasted until 28 July 1794. During this time, thousands of people were arrested and executed, including many innocent citizens. The Reign of Terror was eventually brought to an end by a coup d'état on 9 Thermidor (27 July) that led to the arrest and execution of Maximilien Robespierre and other leaders of the radical Jacobin faction.

The Reign of Terror had a profound impact on French society. It is estimated that between 16,594 and 40,000 people were executed during this time, including many innocent citizens. The Reign of Terror also left a lasting legacy of fear and distrust among the French people.
