Eighth and Hold

Coming by descent from the 2nd RIMa then from the 2nd garrison RIC, it became the 21st RIC on January 17, 1901.

He is entitled to wear the fourragère in the colors of the ribbon of the military medal with olives in the colors of the ribbons of the war crosses 14-18 and 39-45 and the fourragère in the colors of the ribbon of the Croix de guerre of the Theaters of external operations.

The interwar period

World War II [

* 01/11/44:the 21st RIC is recreated on the basis of the 4th Regiment of Senegalese Tirailleurs (laundering of the 4th RTS) within the 9th division of colonial infantry (9th DIC).

After World War II[edit]

After the Liberation of France and the German campaign, it served in French Indochina and was again disbanded on March 22, 1955.

It was recreated on May 16, 1955.

On December 1, 1958 it became the 21st Marine Infantry Regiment.
