According to history, Wat Boon Yuen was built by Thao Maha Phrom. The governor of Chiang Rai in 1909 contained 350 relics and 330 Arhat relics, later being restored again in 1794 during the Burmese rule of Chiang Saen. Wat Boon Yuen has not been registered as an ancient site.

The Fine Arts Department has excavated and restored this ancient site in 2005-2006 Found a temple building consisting of a viharn and a pagoda.

The viharn is rectangular in shape, made of brickwork, facing east. Appears a staircase in front (East) and side (south). Evidence of the reconstruction of the temple 2 times.

The pagoda is located behind or on the west side of the viharn. only the base Square layout, brickwork
