Delhi Durbar and Kesari Singh of 1911

Even in the Delhi court of AD 1911, Maharana Fateh Singh did not attend the royal procession and the court. The testimony of the accused during the Nimej murder case shows that even at that time Kesari Singh Barah and Kharwa Thakur Rao Gopal Singh had tried not to attend Maharana's court. Accused Somdutt alias Trivenidas Lahiri has said in his statement- 'An anonymous letter was prepared in the name of Maharana on behalf of the Sardars of Mewar, whose correct script was got done by me. It was written in the letter that Maharana is of Surya dynasty, he never bowed his head before the Mughals. It would be appropriate for Maharana to commit suicide instead of bowing before Firangi. This letter was sent by Lahiri by Ajmer post on the behest of Thakur Gopal Singh.

Raghubir Singh has written-………..in 1911 again the Delhi Durbar started being organized, then the Rajasthani kings made every effort to make it a complete success. For the first and last time in Indian history, the new King of England, fifth George, ascended the post of Emperor of India in Delhi and accepted the surrender of other Indian kings as well as Rajasthani kings, but this time also Maharana Fateh Singh took his stand; Despite being in Delhi, he neither participated in the royal procession nor did he attend the court. The world was amazed and saw that last glow of the extinguished lamp of Mewar.
