Lord William Batting 1828 AD – 1835 AD

He served as the Governor General of India from 1833 to 20 March 1835.

Prior to this, his tenure from 4 July 1828 to 1833 was that of the Governor General of Bengal.

This is the first Governor General of India made.

At the same time, in 1829 AD, the credit for the end of sati practice was abolished (1830 AD) and child murder was banned and at the same time English was accepted as the medium of instruction following the recommendations of Macaulay.
