In chronicle part 61, there is a record about Wat Phra Buat that it was built by Phaya Kue Na around 1889, details are as follows. “....As for Phraya Pha Yu, that father He went down to eat in Chiang Mai in the year 708, the year of Meng Kai, the 6th full moon. In the middle of Wiang Chai Buri, Chiang Saen there Then celebrate the merit and make merit on that day.”

In the Yonok chronicle, the story about Wat Phra Buat is as follows:“Around 1717, there was a great flood in Chiang Saen. Therefore, Wat Phra Buat has collapsed from now on.”

The important buildings inside the temple consist of a viharn and a pagoda.

The Temple Size 13 meters wide, 20 meters long, facing east. Inside there is a stucco Buddha statue enshrined in the base.

Jedi It is located to the north of the temple. Brick masonry The base is a cutting board base with 3 square bases. The lowest floor is 8 meters wide on each side, supporting 2 lotus bases stacked in a Lanna-style lift plan. Above it is a support for the bell which is a set of 3 lotus bases decorated with 2 chicken breast beads on each base. Next up is a small round bell body. A square throne, adding twelve wooden corners, a tiered stem, a lotus-covered lotus to support the segments and a sloping top, respectively. (Currently, the balance has disappeared)

From the restoration of the Fine Arts Department, it was found that This pagoda built another pagoda inside. The inner chedi is a castle topped chedi. The elemental house is located quite low. Supported by a low cutting board base There are arches enshrining Buddha images on all 4 sides. One of the stucco Buddha images found inside the arch is a standing Buddha image that resembles a stucco posture. At present, the Fine Arts Department has cracked some parts of the outer chedi to reveal the stucco Buddha image of the inner chedi.

from art form both architecture and sculpture make it assumption that The inner chedi should have been built around the 20th Buddhist century, while the outer chedi was built around the end of the 20th Buddhist century or the early 21st Buddhist century.
