archaeological essence

Wat Klang Chedi is an abandoned chedi. It is located to the east of Wat Klang. (Wat Klang Chai Mongkhon), which is currently the parking lot of the temple.

Wat Klang is currently Wat Rat Maha Nikaya. According to the history of the temple, this temple was established in 1782 and was granted Wisung Kham Sima on January 24, 1958 (National Buddhism Office 2022).

The appearance of the chedi is a wooden recessed chedi with twelve bricks and mortar. But almost all of the plaster that had been plastered came off. The bottom base is laterite forming a square shape, next to it are all bricks:2 sets of lion bases(?), next up is a lotus bowl and a large lotus petal. (The lotus bowl has more plaster left than the others) to support the northern part is the bell body. As for the broken top, the ground around the pagoda was a cement floor with several large stones surrounding the pagoda. Including a stucco pattern placed on it, assumed to be the fallen stucco of this pagoda. In addition, there are also piles of modern construction materials mixed with piles of stones.

From the architectural style of the chedi, it is assumed that it was in the early Rattanakosin period.

To the east, next to this abandoned pagoda are two Chinese-style pagodas and a Chinese shrine, all within the same fence is a steel mesh fence, about 120 centimeters high. The surrounding area is the parking lot of Wat Klang Chaimongkol. and the construction of wooden structures, including houses and shops (Especially the Phra Hire panel)
