General Condition

Wat Phra Nang Sang is a temple that is still in use today. Located on Thepkrasattri Road (Highway No. 402) on the plains in the middle of Phuket Island caused by the deposition of current sediments.

Away from Khlong Bang Yai to the east about 180 meters away from the Andaman Sea at Bang Tao Beach. to the east about 4.6 kilometers and located about 2.5 kilometers west of Khao Phra Thaeo.

Wat Phra Nang Sang is located on a plain between the mountains in the middle of Phuket Island. The area is formed by the deposition of convective sediments. The base rock of this area is mudstone in the Kaeng Krachan (CP) rock group.

Wat Phra Nang Sang It is one of the oldest temples in Thalang. It is now a Rat temple. Affiliated with Maha Nikaya Was granted Wisung Kham Seema in 1988.

According to the history of the temple said that it was built around 1758 or 1767 according to legend. The consort of which city was not clearly identified. accused of adultery was ordered to be executed before the day of the execution Her Majesty requested a grace to worship the Buddha's relics in Sri Lanka first. When returning, stop at Thalang Island. then build a temple then travel back The queen has white blood. therefore dubbed "White blood queen" and called the name of the temple. “Wat Phra Nang Sang”, the locals call it short as “Wat Nang Sang” or “Wat Na Sang” or “Wat Na Lang”, but from the architecture and sculpture Most scholars agree that Wat Phra Nang Sang was probably built in the early Rattanakosin period. Wat Phra Nang Sang used to be the location of the enemy army during the Battle of Thalang in 1785 B.E.

Old Ubosot (Currently used as a temple because the new ordination hall is located in the south) is a brick building with cement shed, thick walls, square plan facing east There is a door at the front. There are 3 windows on each side which is long. The shutters are painted red wood. The lower gable roof on the side 1 layer is made of corrugated clay roof tiles. Around the chapel, there are 8 parapets floating around.

Inside the ubosot, there are 4 important stucco Buddha images, one reclining Buddha image, enshrined at the end of the ubosot. and 3 Buddha images in the subduing Mara posture of Thalang City artisans are enshrined in front of the reclining Buddha image. by the President or the middle one having the name “Luang Por Buddhabaramee Sri Thalang”, a Buddhist character, has an art form in the early Rattanakosin period.

In addition, inside the ubosot in front of the main Buddha image, there are 3 Buddha heads made of tin, enclosed in plastic covers. The head of this Buddha image was originally contained in the abdomen or stomach of the Buddha image. The villagers called it "Phra Nai Phung" or "Phra Tin" or "Phra Three Kings". The Fine Arts Department by curator Surasak Srisamang examined the characteristics of Buddhist art and found that the face was oval. The pattern is a late Ayutthaya period, popular since the reign of King Prasat Thong. (2275-2301)

The Ubosot has been restored several times until 1911 until 1963, so it was restored once again. by replacing the roof with corrugated tiles instead of galvanized roofs.

1996 The Office of Archeology and the 12th National Museum, Phuket, renovated this old ordination hall again.

Jedi It is located in the south of the ubosot. It is a bell-shaped chedi made of bricks and mortar. octagonal base bells and bells There is a courtyard surrounded by 2 floors, the upper floor is a narrow courtyard. Surrounded by a cement balcony Some parts are damaged and broken. There is a staircase leading up to the west. As for the ground floor courtyard or outside, there is a balcony surrounded as well. There is also the letter "Som Oct 1972" engraved on this part of the balcony. From the architectural style, it is assumed that this chedi was built in the Rattanakosin period.

bell tower It is located to the south of the chapel and to the west of the stupa. It is a two-story brick bell tower with stairs leading up to the upper floor on the west side. Terracotta Corrugated Tile Roof The overall architecture has influence on Chinese art. It is assumed to be in the Rattanakosin period.

Museum building It is a 2-storey brick and mortar building. The architectural style has western influence mixed with Chinese. which can be found in Phuket Assumed that it was originally a monk's cubicle (abbot?), now there is a staircase leading up to the east. Downstairs is a monastery. The upper part is "Wat Phra Nang Sang Museum" is not yet open for visitors. Inside the Buddha statue earthenware Chinese wares, metal wares, and basketry wares
