Is Korea still split between north and south?

Yes, Korea is still split into two countries: North Korea and South Korea. The division occurred in 1945 at the end of World War II, when Korea was liberated from Japanese rule. The Soviet Union occupied the northern part of the country, while the United States occupied the southern part. Despite numerous attempts at reunification, the two countries remain separate and technically still at war with each other. They are officially known as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) and the Republic of Korea (South Korea).
