How did Kublai Khan treat his Chinese subjects?

Kublai Khan treated his Chinese subjects relatively well compared to other Mongol rulers. He attempted to adopt Chinese customs and institutions and learn the Chinese language. Moreover, he gave positions of responsibility in his government to native Chinese officials. Additionally, he promoted Chinese culture and learning. Furthermore, he ordered the compilation of a Chinese encyclopedia. In contrast to his predecessors, he also stopped killing Chinese children by the age of 15 and women who could still bear children.
