What is the origin of Chinese surname Goh?

Goh is a Hokkien and Cantonese spelling for the Chinese surname Wu, which is a common Chinese surname. Wu, in Mandarin, is pronounced as “woo”. The origin of the surname Wu can be traced back to the legendary Xia Dynasty (approx 21st to 16th BCE). The Wu surname was said to have originated from two sources. One source is the State of Wu, located in the area that is now known as Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces. The other source is the Wu family of the Zhou Dynasty.
