What is Asian fusion cuisine?

Asian fusion cuisine is a style of cooking that blends Asian cooking methods and ingredients with Western elements. There is no standard set of flavors, techniques, or spices that define this hybrid approach to cooking which may be used throughout an entire menu item or applied only as seasoning. Common components in Asian fusion recipes may include sesame and soybean oils that infuse dishes like tempura in Western cuisines for instance. Conversely, dishes created from entirely European and American methods can also make up these menus to add variety. These styles can be employed with any Asian country. For instance Chinese stir-fried recipes might be prepared and infused with Mexican spices on these menus. Japanese ingredients like bonito flakes, mirin, soy sauce, sake, or konbu could be applied within traditional Italian pasta-based Italian meals to achieve the hybrid Asian fusion cooking effects.
