What type of government did China have during World War 2?

The government of China during World War II was the Kuomintang (KMT), also known as the Nationalist Party. It was a one-party dictatorship led by Chiang Kai-shek, who served as the President of the National Government and the Generalissimo of the National Revolutionary Army. The KMT was founded in 1912 and had been in power since 1928, after defeating various warlord factions in the Chinese Civil War. During World War II, the KMT led China in the war against the Imperial Japanese Army and collaborated with the Allied Powers, including the United States, United Kingdom, and Soviet Union.
