In the Korean War when UN forces were driven back refused to let commanding general bomb China.?

The commanding general of UN forces in the Korean War was Douglas MacArthur. MacArthur requested President Harry S. Truman permission to bomb China in order to stop the Chinese Communist Forces (CCF) from intervening in the war. However, Truman refused the request, fearing that it would lead to a wider war with China and possibly the Soviet Union.
